◎「墨」という名は「染み」からなまり伝えられたものといわれています。

　我が国へは推古天皇の１８年（西暦６１０年）高句麗の僧、曇徴が製墨法を伝えたといわれ、奈良墨は応永七年（西暦１４００年）奈良興福寺で造られたのが初めで、元文４年（西暦１７３９年）古梅園六世　松井元泰が長崎で清人と製墨法を交流して、大いに教えられ、より一層品質のよい名墨を造るようになりました。

　我が国の文化の故郷奈良にて製墨を始めまして四百有余年今日に至って居ります。これも大方諸賢の御支援の賜物と深く感謝いたして居ります。温故知新を心の支えとして文化的役割の重大さを自覚し、たゆまぬ努力を重ねる所存で御座います。

　今後共一層の御叱正をお願い申し上げます。
