范曾，1938年7月5日生，江蘇南通人，字，十翼，別署：抱沖齋主。1955年考入南開大學歷史系 。1957年轉入中央美術學院美術史系，半年後轉入中國畫系，1962年畢業。1978年調中央工藝美術學院任教。北京唐風美術館特約畫家。獲聘聯合國教科文組織“多元文化特別顧問”，成為中國第一位獲此榮譽的人。

1984年調天津南開大學東方藝術系，任系主任。中國美術家協會會員，擅長中國人物畫，兼長詩文、書法 。多幅作品為中外美術機構收藏，並出版有《魯迅小說插圖集》、《范曾畫集》、《范曾吟草》、《范曾書畫集》、《范曾自述》等 。
