苗重安，1938年生，山西運城人。 1960年畢業於西安美術學院並留校任教，師從賀天健先生研習山水畫。 1980年負責籌建陝西國畫院，現任陝西國畫院院長，陝西省文聯顧問，中國國家畫院院務委員，中國美術家協會理事，一級美術師，為國家有突出貢獻專家。曾應邀為人民大會堂、天安門、北京火車站畫巨幅《軒轅柏》、《壺口飛瀑》作品成交價格為840,000rmb與金碧青綠山水《群峰競秀》等作品。其山水畫作品多表現黃河流域自然與歷史人文景觀，“為黃河立傳，寫華夏之魂”，畫風寫實，意境開闊，沉雄博大，頗有詩意。
