早期收藏 鎏金銅 釋迦摩尼佛 大日如來 坐像 「釋迦牟尼」可意譯為「來自釋迦族的修行成就者」、「釋迦族的聖人」。 此外，大乘佛教對他又有不同的尊稱，如《華嚴經》中又稱他為毘盧遮那佛，毘盧遮那是光明遍照的意思，俗謂大日如來。 依照大乘佛教不同派系的見解，或認為毘盧遮那佛是法身佛，釋迦牟尼佛為應化身，而報身稱為盧舍那佛。此件釋迦牟尼佛，通體鎏金，寶光內斂。頭頂螺髮圓密，曲眉眼細，雙目俯視，開臉莊嚴神聖，面帶含蓄微笑。雙耳垂肩，頸部飾三道蠶紋，福慧俱足。身著雙領通肩式袈裟，尊佛呈全跏趺坐，右手結與願印，左手施禪定印，神情內斂，體現出禪定後自在安詳之態。整體製作風格講究造像量度與身體比例的和諧關係，其大衣沿邊以浮雕手法展現衣褶之立體皺褶感，並鏨刻纏枝蓮紋為飾，花紋華麗繁縟，工藝細節講究，為中原造像典型裝束形式，實為上乘之作。

        釋迦牟尼意為釋迦族姓的摩尼寶，或意為釋迦族姓的聖人，是佛教的創始人。據佛教典籍記載，其本為古印度迦毗羅衛國的太子，父親名淨飯王，母親名摩耶夫人，捨棄世間的榮華富貴而出家修道成佛，一生致力於佛教事業的發展，被後人稱為佛教的始祖，尊稱為釋迦牟尼。成佛後的釋迦牟尼，尊稱為佛陀，意為徹悟宇宙人生真相者。
