建盞是一種黑瓷，原產地福建建陽，乃中國八大名瓷之一，2011年建盞燒製技藝被列為中國國家級非物質文化遺産。宋代時為皇帝御用，元代衰落，明代停燒,斷代近800年直到1979年才復興研製。 ( 建盞具有5～8%的含鐵量，把水放入建盞中水會被磁化，使水變得更綿軟清甜。)

建盞在英國、美國、法國、澳大利亞、日本、韓國、新加坡等數十個國家和地區的博物館、藝術館、美術館及私人收藏機構都有收藏：如大英博物館、哈佛大學東方藝術博物館、澳大利亞國立博物館、北京故宮博物館、國家博物館、台北故宮博物院、上海博物館、福建博物館、香港馮平山藝術館等各大博物館、藝術館，均有收藏建盞。

面對市場上五花八門的建盞，收藏需加謹慎。建盞可以分級為實用盞、工藝盞、名師盞、藝術盞。不管如何分級，任何一隻盞，都是獨一無二的，都需要我們去珍視、去呵護。

建盞都用正燒，故口沿釉層較薄，而器內底聚釉較厚；外壁往往施半釉，以避免在燒窯中底部產生粘窯；由於釉在高溫中易流動，故有掛釉現象
